SIGN-OUT BAN IN NIGER STATE.
The Niger State House of Assembly has moved a ‘Sign-Out’ ban motion.
The Niger State House of Assembly have called on Governor Mohammed Umari Bago to issue an executive order prohibiting ‘Sign-Out’ or ‘Markers Day’ celebrations in all secondary and tertiary institutions, both public and private in the state.
Hon. Muhammad Sani Idris, an honorable member representing Tafa Constituency presented the motion before the house. He raised concerns about the increasing instances of unruly behavior and misconduct at these events.
Hon. Idris argued that what began as a celebration of academic achievement and positive transitions for final-year students has now become a threat to society and the educational system.
The motion received unanimous support from fellow lawmakers of the Niger House of Assembly, highlighting a shared concern for student welfare. Deputy Speaker Hon. Afiniki Dauda presided over the session and pledged to ensure the governor approves the sign-out ban.
The community awaits the governor’s decision on this significant issue.
