TWENTY GHANAIANS RESCUED FROM TRAFFICKING.
Twenty Ghanaians suspected of being victims of human trafficking were rescued in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The joint effort involved the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and the Ghana Police Service. This rescue followed a formal request for assistance from Ghanaian officials.

On August 18, 2025, police operatives acted on credible intelligence. They raided a fenced building in Obio Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area, around 4:17 p.m. During the operation, they freed 10 men and 10 women, all confirmed to be Ghanaian citizens. The victims appeared disoriented and struggled to provide useful information. Investigators suspect that they may have been hypnotized.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the rescue in a statement on Wednesday. She emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities expect to provide further updates as the situation develops.
The authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the twenty Ghanaians rescued from trafficking.
